The collection consists of two 8" x 10" photographs and nine 4" x 5" negatives of Margaret Mitchell and others during the early 1920s. Copy prints (produced by the UGA Libraries Photographic Services) of some of the negatives are also included with the collection. The negatives have been placed in the Negative File (Neg. #s 6987-6995).

Margaret Mitchell (b. November 8, 1900, Atlanta, Georgia-d. August 16, 1949, Atlanta, Georgia), the daughter of Eugene M. Mitchell, was a prominent attorney. Her mother, Maybelle Stephens Mitchell, was active in the women's suffrage movement. Margaret Mitchell attended Atlanta public schools, graduated from Washington Seminary in Atlanta, and attended Smith College for one year before leaving college upon the death of her mother.
